Company Bio: OPUS Cactus, a B Corporation certified company, is the world’s leading developer of cactus-based renewables, specifically cactus-based feedstock for biogas and livestock feed production. Albeit a relative young company, over the past years, OPUS has invested significantly in R&D related to the biomass agriculture, fermentations (protein), livestock feed, fresh fruit and its derivatives and producing biogas from the Opuntia cactus. In addition, in South Africa, OPUS has setup a large 1000-Ha “source” plantation, of which currently 220 Ha under cultivation, which is aimed specifically to provide planting material to setup large commercial projects on short notice. With this, OPUS Cactus has developed the competences and capability to develop a large-scale biogas from cactus project in a relative short timeframe. Our commitment to integrating advanced agricultural practices with sustainable biomass production is setting a precedent for addressing contemporary environmental challenges. By leveraging the potential of underutilized crops on marginal lands, like the cactus pear, OPUS Cactus is paving the way for a more sustainable and Fuel, Feed and Food-secure future.
